We have a pilot with a large industrial customer soon and they are interested in timelapse images. The challenges are:
- The timelapse is always taken from the second stream on the cameras. The metadata for the second stream may not be conducive to timelapse, for instance VMS vendors often use the second stream for specific purposes and you can't change any of the metadata on them.
- The images appear to be downsampled to 640x360, regardless of the native stream resolution. This isn't a useful resolution by any measure except perhaps for previewing. If someone wanted to run these through a VLM to generate a "narrative" about what happened that day, too much detail is lost in the downsampling.
- The interval is fixed at 10 seconds (I think) and needs to be configurable and even better, schedulable. Timelapse on a construction site at night is a waste of cycles.
Completely understand the technical challenges here but not sure this is a useful feature currently, especially if it's the major feature of the Video Vault Plus tier.
