CHeKT Dealer Portal Security Groups & IP Filtering

CHeKT Dealer Portal Security Groups & IP Filtering

CHeKT Security Groups are intended for sorting Dealer Portal Users into IP-restricted environments for additional portal-access security. These are normally used if a group of users should only be accessing the CHeKT Portals from a particular connection (such as the source public IP of their work office), or to block connection attempts from a problematic source.

To access the utility, connect to the Dealer Portal and click the settings gear on the left side:

Click Security Groups:

Click Add:

InfoWhitelisting is for restricting users ability to access the portal to a certain IP Range.

In the pop-up window, name the Security Group, and enter the desired source IP or IP range for the users that will be listed in this Group:

Notes
For this example. We will would be "restricting" those in the security group to 0.0.0.0, which is "all addresses" and thus, no restriction would be created. If a specific Public IP or IP range was listed, that would be the required source connection for any user in this security group to gain access to CHeKT Portals.

Once the group is created, Admin Portal Users can simply select that as the desired security group on the user profile edit screen:

Info
This will only affect if the listed user can connect to services, but bears no direct impact on the permissions of that user.

Once saved, the user updated will show in the Security Group you created:

Info
Blacklisting is for listing addresses of problematic connections. The users in a blacklist security group will be unable to connect to the portal from the listed Addresses.

To create a Blacklist Security Group, simply select add from the same menu, Name it, and  select "IP Blacklist" from the drop-down:

In the IP Range line, list the source IP Address or IP range that needs to be blocked from accessing CHeKT Services:

Notes
In this example, we would be restricting anyone in the Security Group "Nigh Shift" from connecting to the CHeKT portal from this 1.10.11.0 IP Range.

Navigate back to the user screen to select that newly created Security Group for the desired user:

and click Save.
