Connecting and Configuring an AXIS P4705-PLVE Panoramic Camera (Bridge FW 5.0 and Newer)

Connecting and Configuring an AXIS P4705-PLVE Panoramic Camera (Bridge FW 5.0 and Newer)

The AXIS P4705 Panoramic Camera can send independent network alarms into the CHeKT Bridge on each mounted lens. This article is designed to demonstrate the recommended configuration of this integration on the CHeKT Firmware Version 5.0 and beyond.

Mounting Camera Channels to the Bridge

Alert
Bridge Firmware Build 5.0 or newer is required for this to function properly

Begin by selecting the IP address of the Axis Camera during the standard CHeKT camera mounting process:

Idea
If unfamiliar, check out our camera mounting guide for assistance adding cameras to a CHeKT Site.

On the following screen, enter the Administrator Credentials for the camera in the authentication line, and ensure the AXIS API is selected:

Notes
Previous CHeKT Integration methods used the ONVIF API Type for alarm delivery. The Axis API Type is the correct method for the 5.0 Firmware Version

After Authentication, the camera will present both connectable streams as selectable options.

For simplicity, in this article we will connect Axis Camera Channel 1 to our first CHeKT Bridge Camera Channel and Channel 2 to our second.

After selecting the desired Camera Channel, ensure the snapshot displays the expected image:

And complete the mount:

Repeat the process for the second Axis Camera Channel:

Info
When selecting the camera a second time, it will appear registered but will still allow for selection.

Select the camera channel that is not yet registered:

Confirm the Snapshot:

Complete the Mount:

Configuring Network Alarms

Alert
Before proceeding to configure and test alarms in CHeKT, ensure the Axis Analytic Scenario is configured for both camera lenses. For this example, we are using an Object in Area configuration for each scenario.

Enter the Analytic Topic Selector from the Alarm Source menu item under the camera configuration:

Scroll to the bottom of the Analytic Event Topic Menu, and there are likely already a few event topics listed if subjects have been entering the configured detection areas:

Warning
CHeKT highly recommends keeping Motion Alarms disabled due to the high false alarm frequency

Notice there are 51 messages listed as having reported on the Object Scenario Rules:

Notes
Hover over to see the full names:

We are going to enable the Scenario we set up for the camera channel (scenario 1). We can already tell that scenario is reporting alarms from observing the counters for those topic messages rising as our subjects enter the area.

Enabling the topics at the top of this menu via the checkboxes will tell the System to consider these alarm events. Here, we have only enabled the rule applicable to scenario 1:

After clicking the save button at the bottom of the menu, the graph will update to show the valid alarm topics and the selected topic should now show supported/enabled in blue:

After exiting the menu, the first channel now shows active having seen a valid alarm topic:

Next, access the topic menu for the second camera channel:

This menu will be near identical, but we will locate the topics that are reporting on just this second camera channel. We can see that scenario 2 is reporting:

Select that topic from the upper menu, and click save:

The graph should update to show the valid topics, and the selected scenario 2 topic should now appear in blue:

Both Cameras now show Active:

Alert
Always remember to arm the site and test:
