Enabling the Self Monitoring Feature

Enabling the Self Monitoring Feature

Info

Self Monitoring allows a site to operate without a Monitoring Station.
Instead of alarm events being routed to a monitoring center for operator review and dispatch,
notifications are delivered directly to the end user through the CHeKT mobile application.
This option is ideal for customers who want to receive and respond to their own alarm events without professional monitoring services.

Alert
Self Monitoring is only Available for Partitioned Sites.

Alert
Self Monitoring is Partitioned based, meaning Partition 1 can be self monitored while Partition 2 is Monitored by a Central Station.

Before You Enable Self Monitoring

It is important to understand how it changes the site's functionality.

When Self Monitoring is enabled:

  • Alarm events are no longer sent to a Central Monitoring Station.
  • Monitoring Portal access is removed for both Dealers and End Users.
  • Live camera viewing remains available through the CHeKT mobile application.
  • Alarm notifications are delivered directly to the end user's mobile device.

    Warning
Once a site is configured for Self Monitoring, neither the Dealer nor the End User will have access to the Monitoring Portal, as there is no monitoring workflow to manage.

Enabling Self Monitoring

  1. Log in to the CHeKT Dealer Portal.
  2. Open the desired Site.
  3. Navigate to Site Details and Partitions:
  4. Select Edit and Enable the Self Monitoring option for the desired Partition.

  5. Save the changes.

Once enabled, the partition will begin operating as a self-monitored location.

The following changes take effect immediately:
  • Alarm events are no longer transmitted to a Central Monitoring Station.
  • No operator review or dispatch services are available.

Monitoring Portal Access

Monitoring Portal access is disabled for both Dealers and End Users.

AlertWhen accessing the Monitoring Portal while Self Monitoring is enabled, you may see No Bridge Found or No VCP, as well as no view of cameras.
This behavior is expected and is not an indication of a system issue.

Because there is no Central Station monitoring workflow, the Monitoring Portal is no longer required.

End users will continue to use the CHeKT mobile application to:

  • View live camera feeds
  • Receive alarm notifications
  • Monitor their property

The mobile application becomes the primary interface for interacting with the system.

When Should Self Monitoring Be Used?

Self Monitoring is recommended for customers who:

  • Do not require professional Central Station monitoring.
  • Want to receive alarm notifications directly.
  • Intend to manage and respond to alarm events themselves.

If a customer requires alarm verification, dispatch services, or operator intervention, the site should remain configured with Central Station monitoring.
