PTZ Controls: Monitoring Station and Customer Access Issues
Important Details with
the 5.0 Release regarding PTZ Cameras:
When all new cameras are added to CHeKT, the PTZ functions are disabled as a default. Camera PTZ capabilities are enabled in the cameras settings section:
Site -> Site Details -> Devices -> Camera Settings -> Device -> Capabilities
Device Capabilities
PTZ controls are disabled by default for two main reasons:
Dealers should decide if the camera's PTZ function should be used.
- The API for PTZ controls and motorized varifocal lens cameras are identical. We do not want a user to adjusted a varifocal camera by mistake.
For this reason, each camera has a switch to enable and disable PTZ controls found in the CHeKT dealer managment portal cameras setting section.
You will notice the PTZ capability is disabled by default. Once you enable it, then it’s available to the customer mobile app and central station monitoring portal.
Device Controls & Visibility
Once a camera's capabilities are defined, then dealers can manage who can access these capabilities. This is done in two areas based on the user.
- Customer Visibility
- Monitoring Station Visibility
The Customer Visibilities are managed on the sites' App Users page.
On this page, scroll down to the Site Controls Visibility section.
Here you can enable and disable visibilites for customers.
Note: When PTZ Controls are enabled, only Site Owners & Admins can use the PTZ cameras.
Monitoring Station Operator Visibility
The dealer management portal has a new section for managing monitoring station access and settings. In this section, you can set up site level and camera level directions, manage camera display order, and the camera capabilities visible to the operators in the monitoring center.
These settings allow you to control the order of cameras and the functions available to operators using the monitoring portal.
Note: Some monitoring centers may have restricted their operators from using these functions, so check with your central station to ensure their operators can use these functions
