Cannot connect cameras to the Bridge.

There are three phases to connecting a camera to the CHeKT Bridge.
  1. Discovery
  2. Authentication
  3. Mounting

Phase 1: Discovery

During this phase, the Bridge will scan the local area network for all ONVIF compatible cameras and HD recorders and display them in a list.

If you do not see your device in the list it will be for the following reasons:
  • ONVIF Issue: On most cameras and recorders the Onvif protocol is enabled by default.  If Onvif is disabled then the device will not show up in the Network scan.
  • Network Connectivity:  The Bridge or cameras are not physically connected to the network.  To troubleshoot this, ensure that you have a network connection on all your devices.
  • Network Segmentation: If your cameras are on a network switch that is blocking "Broadcast" network traffic, then the devices are not scannable.  In this case, use the "Manual IP" option to type in the IP address of the camera or recorder you want to mount.

Phase 2: Authentication

During this phase, the Bridge is authenticating to the camera or recorder,  If you can't authenticate double check the following options:
  • Confirm your username and password:  Ensure you are using the username and password of the actual device you are connecting to.  IP cameras have a unique password that is set on the camera and is unrelated to the NVR or DVR.  Each recorder will have a unique username and password.
  • Onvif User: Some IP cameras and DVR require a new user to be created for the Onvif protocol.  Check your device documentation.

Phase 3: Mounting the Camera

During this phase, the Bridge will attempt to mount the camera.  If you are unable to mount a camera it may be due to one of the following factors:
  • The RTSP Stream is unavailable: In order to mount any camera to the CHeKT Bridge, the RTSP stream must be enabled.

Once these three phases are complete, the camera is now mounted.  After mounting a camera the device will show "Offline" for the first 60-120 seconds while the Bridge configures the secondary stream of the camera.  If the camera remains offline, review these troubleshooting steps.
