This feature is effective from FW ~.63 onwards. Please ensure your camera is on version ~.63 or later before attempting to enable this feature.
Basic feature info
The OTA Upgrade feature allows cameras to automatically check for and apply new firmware updates as they become available.
How to enable the OTA Upgrade feature
To enable the feature, log into the camera and expand Network Service, and select OTA Upgrade:
Then check the Auto Update checkbox, and select Apply:
Frequency of update
CHeKT E-Series cameras will check for updates under the following conditions:
- Every time the camera restarts.
- Every 24 hours after the camera's last restart:
The camera will start a timer upon restart, and performs a version check every 24 hours.
If the OTA Update checkbox is selected and a new firmware version is found under the above conditions, the new firmware will automatically be applied.
Disclaimer
An update takes between 5-10 minutes, during which time the camera will not record any footage, or trigger any alarms until it starts back up.
It is therefore recommended to ensure good local networking, internet, and power conditions before performing an update.
It is advised to start up your cameras during business hours or non-armed conditions where possible. This ensures the camera only auto-updates during business hours or non-armed conditions, and not while the system is in active use.
