Adding a Secondary Network Connection with a USB Ethernet Adapter
This article's primary goal is to teach the user how to set up a dual-NIC configuration using the CKB308 or CKB312 and a third party USB to Ethernet adapter.
CHeKT has no officially recommended adaptor, but our agents have confirmed this unit works :
Amazon Link to Device
This method requires that the Bridge be on the 5.0 Firmware Build or higher
After unpackaging and connecting the CHeKT bridge to power and it's primary Ethernet connection, take the adapter and plug it into one of the CHeKT Bridge USB 3.0 ports (labelled/blue):
The Bridge will first need to be enrolled in the Dealer Portal using the
standard enrollment procedure. Once the Bridge is online in the CHeKT Dealer Portal with both ethernet cables connected, the user should see a
Secondary Ethernet Settings option under the network tab:
Simply Click to configure in the same fashion as the bridge primary network connection.
Configuring from the local Interface
After
signing in to the CHeKT Admin Tool, navigate to the "Network Setting" tab. Here the user can set a static IP for the main ethernet connection or leave it as DHCP and configure the secondary.
If the site is not DHCP capable you will use the emergency IP listed on the back of the unit to connect to the Local Admin Tool to set a static address.
Under the label Network Setting there are various sub-tabs. If the bridge has successfully recognized the Ethernet adapter it will appear as MAIN-2 IP. This tab is identical to the "Main IP" tab and allows for the same configuration method.
This configuration process is identical for the CKB308 and CKB312 Models.
