CHeKT Bridge: Hardware Version CKB416v1

Unit Introduction:


The CHeKT CKB416v1 is a 16 Channel Video Alarm Panel with the addition of hard-wired terminals for 12v DC Power, arming and a relay output. This is an improvement on our previous CKB416v0 

This unit also has a Primary Network Port dedicated for the Internet facing network, and a Secondary Network Port dedicated to connecting the unit to an isolated camera LAN if required. 


Notes
The form factor changed between the 416v0 and 416v1, but installers can always identify the primary LAN by locating the connection closest to the USBA Connections (as opposed to the single USBC connection). This rule-of-thumb holds true across both units.

The Primary LAN is the only LAN connection with POE power

Connecting the unit using both network connections:

This connection method is only required for networks that have isolated the camera LAN from the main Internet-facing network.  If the Internet and cameras are accessible from a single IP address range, then this connection method is likely non-required. If you have any questions about the installation preference on a managed network, be sure to connect with the IT Personnel managing the network to confirm.

First, connect the primary LAN to the internet-facing network switch, and the secondary LAN to the switch that has access to the surveillance devices:


Register the bridge on the customer site following the familiar CHeKT Bridge Registration Process.

Once the Bridge is online, if both network cables are connected, the IP Address of the Secondary LAN can be assigned under the CKB416 Network Tab.

Click the Secondary Ethernet IP line item:

Always check for IP conflicts when using a manual IP address!


Select Manual, and input the desired IP Address for the device on the Camera LAN:


Click Apply.

When the local network scan is initiated to add cameras, CHeKT Compatible devices from the isolated camera network should appear on the results list (192.168.0.x in my example case above).

Hardwire Terminal Identification:

The CKB416 has 6 hard-wire connection terminals on the top of the unit. These can be utilized if needed, but are generally not required for video - only systems. CHeKT Technical Support and Sales Agents can help assess weather these are required for the installation, but common reasons include:
  1. The need to sync the arming sequence with a local alarm panel or I/O device 
  2. The Lack of POE power on the switch connected to the Bridge Main NIC
  3. The need to engage a light or sounder in the field using a command from the customer application or automation rule.
