Alarm Panel Pairing: Programming with The Bridge

Alarm Panel Pairing: Programming with The Bridge

Info
Alarm Panel Pairing Mode:
When a Bridge is programming in Alarm Panel Pairing mode, the Bridge is a video alarm module to the on-site alarm system.  The Bridge will capture video events for all alarm zone triggers.  To change your Site Programming mode from Alarm Panel Pairing to CHeKT Video Security System mode, follow the direction found here. Setting the Site Arming Mode

Why is using the Bridge Arming Input Important?
Like an alarm panel, the armed state of the Bridge will control when the Bridge input zones and events from camera analytics are active and signals to a central station.  If you set the Bridge to "Always Armed," the Bridge will upload video events to the Cloud on all event triggers - even if the alarm panel is disarmed.  This may lead to overage charges on your monthly service plan and poor service for your customer.

For most alarm panels you can use one of the programmable outputs from the panel to arm and disarm the CHeKT Bridge. We have provided directions below for how to program the output for common alarm panels in the industry.
Notes
CHeKT Dealer Portal Bridge Configuration:
Because the output voltage values are different for each alarm panel you need to program the CHeKT Bridge to follow the disarmed and armed values for your panel.  Keep in mind that the arming pin of the CHeKT Bridge has a voltage meter, that can be programmed to arm and disarm with any voltage ranging from 0v - 12v.  This allows security integrators the ability to use any voltage change to arm and disarm the Bridge.

Common Ground:  More information on this is available in this article:  Click Here
Each of the wiring methods below requires the CHeKT Bridge hardware to share a common ground with the alarm panel.  If your Bridge is powered by the Aux Power output of the alarm panel, then by nature, the Bridge shares a ground with the alarm panel.  If you are powering the Bridge with a power supply, then you need to sync the Bridge and Alarm panel Ground.

Wiring Zones or Triggers: Read Here
There are several ways you can wire a sensor, detector, or trigger source into the Bridge. Each method is used to create an alarm and video event based on the triggered condition.

  1. Read the Vista Panel Programming Guide on Section 6-1 for *79 Output Device Mapping
Notes
Each output default is "Normally High" and goes low on a programmed condition. High is considered open and low is closed with 15 ohms to ground.
  1. On *79 for Programming Output Mode
    1. Enter Output No.: Enter 17 or 18 for programming
    2. Set Output Mode:  "The default mode is Normally High"
Notes
CHeKT Recommends leaving this mode of Normally High.  This setting ensures they Bridge defaults to an Armed condition if the wiring is compromised.
