CHeKT Site Map Setup Deployment Guide
Document Date: May 2026
Document Number: 003-00103-00
Document Supports: All CHeKT Software Versions
The CHeKT platform allows you to upload a site map - such as a floor plan, blueprint, or aerial photo - and place cameras on it at their physical locations. This gives monitoring center operators a spatial view of the entire property and enables a virtual guard tour during an alarm event: rather than cycling through a camera list, an operator can look at the map, immediately see where activity is occurring, and pull up the relevant camera with a single click.
The Site Map feature supports multiple map levels (e.g., 1st floor, 2nd floor, parking garage), allowing complex or multi-story sites to be fully documented in a single location record.
1. Select a site within portal.
2. Click the Site Details tab, then select Devices.
The screen is divided into two panels:
Left - Device List: All devices enrolled under this customer, including the CHeKT Bridge and its cameras.
Right - Site Map: Displays the uploaded map with camera pins, or an upload prompt if no map has been added yet.
Step 1 - Upload a Map Image
If no map exists yet, click Upload Site Map in the center of the empty Site Map panel, or use the Upload button at the top-right of the panel. A standard file browser will open. Select your map image and click Open.
Supported formats: JPEG, PNG, and other standard image formats. PDF is not supported - if your floor plan is a PDF, export or convert it to JPEG or PNG first.

Step 2 - Add Map Levels (Multi-Areaz Sites)
For sites with more than one floor or distinct area, click the Area button in the top-right corner of the Site Map panel. The Area Setting dialog will open.
The dialog is used to configure both the order of appearance for the configured areas, and is also used to upload a map or image for each defined area.
The dialog box functions are listed in the table:

Once all levels are configured, click Done to save, or Cancel to discard changes.
Warning: The Delete button (red, bottom-left of the dialog) removes all map levels and every camera placement across the entire site. This cannot be undone.
Step 3 - Place Cameras on the Map
With a map image uploaded, switch to Edit mode by clicking EDIT in the toolbar at the bottom of the Site Map panel.
In Edit mode, click any camera in the Device List on the left to select it. The camera row will highlight blue and a map pin icon will appear on the right side of the row. Click that icon to drop the camera onto the map.
A camera pin - displayed as a small circular icon with a camera symbol - will appear on the map, along with a field-of-view (FOV) cone: a blue shaded wedge representing the camera's coverage area. Two handle dots let you shape the cone:

|
Blue dot |
Drag to set the direction the camera faces and the reach (depth) of the FOV cone |
|
Orange dot |
Drag to set the width (angle) of the FOV cone |
Drag the camera pin icon itself to position it at the camera's exact physical location on the map. Repeat for each camera on that level, then click EDIT again to exit Edit mode and save the layout.
Tip: A well-configured FOV cone lets operators instantly see which area each camera covers. For wide-angle cameras, drag the orange dot outward to reflect the broader field of view.
The Site Map is accessible to operators in the Monitoring Portal and serves as the primary interface for conducting a virtual guard tour during an alarm event.

Operators can:
Click any camera pin to open that camera's live feed. The number of events unprocessed alarm events are shown over the camera icon. Operators may switch levels using the level selector buttons in the lower-left. The active level is highlighted.
