Bridge Installation - Wiring & Setup Steps

1. Powering the Bridge

The Bridge is powered by 12 volts of DC power. Using the terminal block included in the packaging, connect the positive and negative leads. 
  • 12VDC Power Requirement (All Models)
  • ~400 mAmps Power Draw per unit ( CKB304 - 4 Channel Unit)
  • ~800 mAmps Power Draw per unit (CKB312 - 12 Channel Unit)
When installed with an alarm panel, you can power the Bridge using the 12-volt power auxiliary output from an alarm panel. It is essential to know the amperage capacity and draw of the alarm panel auxiliary power terminals. 
  1. Wiring the Alarm Panels and Zones to the Bridge
When powering the Bridge from a separate 12v power source, you need to create a common ground with the alarm panel.

Once powered on, the Bridge Status LED will turn solid Green or Red.
  1. Green Indicates a Disarmed Bridge
  2. Red Indicates an Armed Bridge

2. Arming the Bridge

There are two programming methods for arming and disarming the Bridge,  Alarm Panel Pairing and CHeKT's Video Security System method.

Wiring the Arming pin (Alarm Panel Pairing)

The Bridge Arming pin is designed to allow the Bridge to follow the arming sequence of an Alarm Panel. The arming pin allows the Bridge to arm and disarm with any "High-to-Low" or "Low-to-High" voltage change ranging from 0 volts through 12 volts.  This is normally achieved by connecting a programmable output terminal from an alarm panel into the arming input, and programming a voltage change to follow an arming in the Alarm Panel programming. Some specific models are depicted in the following guide. 

Wiring the Arming pin (CHeKT Video Security System)

When using the Bridge in the CHeKT Video Security System mode, the arming pin does not need to be wired,  In this mode, the Bridge is armed and disarmed by using the CHeKT End-User moble app or throgh the CHeKT Dealer Portal.

3. Connecting the Sensors

Digital Inputs - Physical Sensor Triggers

General Overview:  The Bridge has alarm input zones known simply as Digital Inputs to create alarm traffic. The CKB304 has four Digital Inputs and the CKB312 has twelve Digital Inputs.  Each of the inputs are directly associated with an onboard video channel; defined when enrolling cameras. When a sensor trigger occurs on one of the Digital Input zones, a video event and alarm event is created for the associated video channel.
Using the above guide, you can use any sensor that creates a state change on the Bridge Input terminals (motion detector, wired output from a camera caused by analytics, panic button) to create the alarm snapshots. Simply wire the sensor onto the Bridge with one of the methods described in the article above. Once wired and a camera is learned into the associated channel, the Bridge will create an alarm and video event when the sensor is triggered.  
**Note: The Bridge Zones can support an N.O. or N.C. condition, the default is N.C. Changes to the alarm zone state are done in the Dealer portal on the Bridge settings.  In the default, N.C., state the LED lights will be off when the zone is closed and illuminated red when the zone opens.  If you are using a N.O. loop the LED lights will stay "Red" when the loop is open, and turn off when the zone is in alarm (V0 and V1 only).
*V2 Bridges have logic that will change the LED behavior when the Portal Setting is updated. For V2 Bridges, "Red" is alarm and "off" is normal condition regardless of NO or NC conditions.
When passing zones through the Bridge, the resistors should be placed at the alarm panel. If the resistor must be installed at end-of-line, an auxiliary relay board is recommended to activate the Bridge. It is important to test the functionality of the detector activating both the Bridge and the alarm panel.

Video Analytics  - Video Sensor Triggers

General Overview:  When using cameras with supported edge-based analytics, a wired Digital Input trigger is not needed. Using Bridge arming allows the Bridge to ignore camera analytics when the system is disarmed.  All configuration for camera analytics is done on the camera, or the manufactures recommended software.  Use the CHeKT Dealer Portal to program the Bridge to create alarm events and video events based on analytics from the camera.   When the Bridge sees supported analytics events from the camera, the Bridge will generate an alarm and video event. 

4. Internet Connectivity

Power up the Bridge and plug it into the local area network. The Bridge will automatically acquire an address using DHCP and needs port 80 and port 443 internet access to the CHeKT cloud.  Once the Bridge is powered on and has a routable network connection it can be registered to a customer site in your CHeKT Dealer Portal.   A static IP address can be assigned to the Bridge. 
The Bridge Network status LED indicates the connection status with the CHeKT cloud.
Turned off:  No assigned IP address. Check network connection.
Single blink:   Assigned IP address, but it is not able to connect to the CHeKT cloud. Check internet connection and necessary outbound ports of the assigned IP address
Double blink:   Connected to the CHeKT cloud, but the device is not registered in the CHeKT cloud. Check out our guide of  Registering CHeKT Bridge to Customer Site

Connectivity:
  1. DHCP Enabled Network: The Bridge obtains an IP address using DHCP.  The Bridge does not support a static IP address.
  2. Port Settings: The Bridge needs access to port 80 and 443 through the network firewall.
  3. White List Information:  If the local area network is using a web proxy service, it is possible that the LAN IP address of the bridge and *.chekt.com need to be added to your white list. 

5. Bridge Alarm LED Status Lights

Legacy Models (CKB304v1 and below) 

The LED will be Red when the sensor circuit is in an "Open" condition and off when "Closed."   This is independent of the programmed definition of the sensor type in the Dealer Portal. In other words, Red is an "open" circuit, and Off is a "closed" circuit, independent of whether the zone characteristics are Normally Open or Normally Closed.

CKB304v2 and Above 

When a Digital Input zone is in "Alarm" the LED is red and off when the Digital Input is normal. For a DI programmed as "normally closed" in the Dealer Portal, this light will be Red (alarm) when the circuit is opened and Off (normal) when the circuit is closed. When set as "normally open," the light will be Red when the circuit is closed and off when the circuit is a in an open condition. 

Camera status LED (CKB312 Only) 






LEDs will be on (Blue) when a camera is connected, off when the channel is empty, and blink when there is a trouble on that camera channel.
